Sēkr: Launch MAnager

In December of 2023, Peace Vans acquired the popular van life app Sēkr. The Sēkr team is launching a new version of the app in June of 2024 and is seeking a senior leader to run all launch related activities. This is an insanely exciting opportunity for the right person and we can’t wait to onboard that person.

Sēkr, a leading app for helping vanlifers and travelers plan, manage, and enjoy road trips is seeking an expert consumer marketer to run the re-launch of Sēkr 3.0 in Spring of 2024.  This is a rare opportunity to own the end-to-end launch experience of a world class consumer app with a built in user base and existing audience as well as work hand in hand with a proven founder team.

Originally founded in 2016 as "The VanLife App", Sēkr recently changed hands and was acquired by the team from Peace Vans, the leading camper van lifestyle company based in Seattle, WA. The new team has a fresh mandate to take the momentum established (100,000+ downloads, 70,000 instagram followers) and is on an aggressive development phase to re-launch the app (and introduce a desktop web version) in June of 2024.

We are seeking a new founding team member to run the re-launch activities and build world class marketing operations infrastructure, including designing, managing, and measuring all the growth-focused re-launch activities. 

As the Head of Product Launch and Marketing Operations, you will play a pivotal role in the successful reintroduction of Sēkr to the market. You will be responsible for crafting and executing comprehensive launch strategies, driving user acquisition, and building robust marketing operations to support ongoing growth. This role requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of launching products in the consumer tech industry, coupled with a deep understanding of digital marketing channels and a passion for the outdoors.  You will join the proven Sēkr leadership team and work hand in hand with them to seize this opportunity.  The current leadership team has a proven track record of building businesses larger than $10M with exits in the mid 8 figures. While we think and act like a start up, Sēkr has many advantages over a true greenfield startup.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Product Launch Strategy: Develop and execute a strategic roadmap for the successful launch of Sēkr, including defining target audiences, positioning, messaging, and go-to-market plans.

  • User Acquisition and Growth: Lead efforts to drive user acquisition through various channels, including digital advertising, content marketing, SEO/SEM, partnerships, social media and PR

  • Marketing Operations: Establish and optimize marketing operations processes, including campaign management, analytics, budgeting, and reporting, to ensure efficient and effective execution of marketing initiatives.

  • Brand Building: Cultivate and maintain a strong brand presence across all marketing touchpoints, ensuring brand consistency and alignment with company values.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Sēkr team to get buy-in for plans and assistance in execution.

  • Performance Analysis: Monitor, analyze, and report on key performance metrics to measure the effectiveness of marketing efforts and inform future strategies.  Move people through the funnel from trial to sale to upsell to retention and referral.

  • Team Leadership: Function as an owner with a similar mindset.  Interface directly with Sēkr leadership as a peer.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product marketing, digital marketing, or related roles, with a focus on launching and scaling digital products.

  • Proven track record of successfully launching and growing products in the tech industry, preferably within the mobile app space.

  • Deep understanding of digital marketing channels, including paid advertising, SEO/SEM, content marketing, and social media.

  • Strong analytical skills and experience using data-driven insights to optimize marketing strategies and campaigns.

  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to function as an independent leader

  • Highly organized with strong project management skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Self-starter that knows how to get things done with minimal hand holding

  • Passion for the outdoors, camping, and road trips.

  • Camper van / RV experience a plus

Compensation:

Sēkr is functioning as a start-up within the Peace Vans corporate structure.  For all intents and purposes you will be a founding member of the Sēkr team.  This is a contract role for 3-6 months with the potential for full time employment upon completion of a successful launch.  Compensation will be a combination of a significant equity grant in the Sēkr subsidiary of Peace Vans as well as a monthly wage depending on experience.  This can be a remote role.


Back Office

Bookkeeper & office Administrator

Position Overview:

The Bookkeeper and Office Administrator will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of multiple business lines by coordinating accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and other bookkeeping tasks. Additionally, this role will involve handling some aspects of HR, including new employee onboarding and policy administration.. The ideal candidate will be proficient in bookkeeping principles and software, highly organized, and capable of balancing multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.  The Bookkeeper and Office Administrator will work closely with our CFO and CEO to ensure the smooth operations of the finance and HR functions.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable:Track invoicing, receipts, and collections processes, as well as manage vendor payments and reconciliations.

2. Payroll Administration:Process payroll accurately and on time, including employee hours, deductions, pto and tax withholdings.

3. Financial Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including journal entries, bank reconciliations, and general ledger entries; Support processes to integrate digital systems.

4. HR Support: Assist with new employee onboarding, including preparing paperwork, conducting orientations, and ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures.

5. Expense Tracking: Reconcile company expenses, including credit card transactions and reimbursements.

6. Financial Reporting and Projects: Prepare regular financial reports to required agencies, assist with data integration and other financial projects as assigned by the CFO.

7. Office Administration: Perform general office administrative tasks, such as processing mail, ordering supplies, maintaining office equipment and other associated tasks.

8. Compliance and Regulations: Stay informed about relevant accounting regulations and ensure compliance with state and federal tax laws and reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.

- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or office administration roles.

- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel) and Google Suite; Interest and comfort with technology, data and digital solutions.

- Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with excellent organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

- Knowledge of HR principles and practices, including familiarity with employee onboarding procedures, and enforcing HR policy is a plus.

- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

- Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to work independently and as part of multiple teams.

- Prior experience in the automotive or small business industry is desirable but not required.

Summer Marketing Intern

ELECTRIC Conversions

Senior Electric Conversion Technician

If you’ve been following Peace Vans for the last year, you know we have made significant investments and have commensurate momentum in our business, converting vintage VWs to electric. What started as a fun side project is now a significant line of business for Peace Vans and a future growth driver. We are extremely serious about this business and looking to add to our team.

There are 5 essential skills required to be successful in this role:

  1. EV Conversion experience. Occasionally, we will hire someone whose passion is their primary qualification. However, for this role and at this time, we require candidates to have at least 1 year of EV Conversion experience in a professional environment or 2 years working in a high-voltage EV business.

  2. VW knowledge. For the next 12 months, most of our conversions will be VW-related. A rudimentary knowledge of the various VW platforms will be critical to completing conversion on time and with excellence.

  3. Passion for EVs. As a senior member of the team, it will be critical that you are up to date on all the latest EV technology trends, products, and innovations and be able to translate those into strategies and tactics for our customers.

  4. Fabrication and/or CAD/design skills. Our solutions require a moderate level of custom fabrication and manufacturing, and you must be conversant in design processes and can creatively execute those designs either on your own, with existing Peace Vans resources, or via outside vendors.

  5. Project Management skills. As a senior technician, we will look to you to own end-to-end solutions for our customers and to create the underlying project plans that support the successful execution and delivery of those solutions.

While we would love a candidate who checks all those boxes, we are a large enough team to round out some of them if you aren’t entirely comfortable with all 5 skills. We do require some EV Conversion experience and/or knowledge. Everything else can be discussed.

SPrinter/Class B Van Repair-Upgrade Shop

Class B service technician

Launched in the summer of 2023, our newest business is focused on supporting existing owners of Class B vans - most typically Sprinters. We leverage our expertise in RV side systems and our similarly deep network of vendors and products to offer world-class service to van owners who want upgrades, repairs, or jump-starts on their builds. This shop does everything from troubleshooting and repairs of popular camper van conversions (Storyteller, Revel, Outside Vans, and more) as well as smaller boutique builders. We also offer the latest upgrades from exterior components (racks, ladders, spares, winches, etc.) and vehicle upgrades (suspension, rear lockers, etc.) to interior work on battery systems, heaters, lighting, and even assistance with cabinets and other interior components. We are certified Smartfloor and pop-top installers and can offer the full suite of these products installed by our experts.

This team is seeking a new member to join immediately. To qualify, you should have the following:

  • 1-3 years experience working on camper van conversions in a professional environment

  • A deep and strong passion for the van life lifestyle and a desire to stay on top of the latest products, innovations, and techniques

  • Knowledge of 12V systems, automobile systems (e.g., suspension), and some light carpentry skills

  • Professional attitude and customer relationship skills

  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative and team-oriented environment

  • Set of your own tools

  • 2 professional references and a clean driving record
