BEST HOTELS IN BAJA CALIFORNIA

Why should I visit a BOUTIQUE hotel in Baja?

Nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the tranquil beauty of the Sea of Cortez, Baja California is the perfect winter travel destination. Whether you're an avid adventurer or a relaxation enthusiast, Baja offers a diverse array of activities, and at the heart of it all lie the region's finest accommodations.

Our team has stayed at many hotels on the Baja Peninsula, but we’ve narrowed down our top six favorites. We offer self-guided camper van tours out of La Paz, but we highly recommend arriving a few days before pick-up to stay at one of our favorite accommodation spots. Continue reading to learn more about our six favorite hotels on the Baja Peninsula.

Drift Hotel - San José del Cabo

Located in the historic city center of San José del Cabo, this hip boutique hotel is the perfect place to stay your first night in Baja. Desert textures inspire the minimalistic rooms and include Wi-Fi with courtyard and rooftop views. Some rooms feature hammocks, in-bedroom tubs, and private sundecks.

The hotel is a 2-minute walk from the Gallery District and less than a two-mile walk from the nearest beach. A rustic-chic mezcal bar is set in a courtyard next to a stunning outdoor pool. There is also weekly live music and food carts at the hotel. Prices fluctuate depending on the time of year but plan to pay between $200 and $300.

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel - Cabo San Lucas

If you’re flying into Cabo and want the classic all-inclusive resort experience, we highly recommend staying at The Cape. This 5-star hotel features polished rooms with ocean views, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, cocktail bars, rainfall showers, and free-standing tubs. If you upgrade to a suite, you’ll enjoy a living room and plunge pool or a kitchen if you book a villa.

This hotel has everything you could need–you won’t have to leave the resort. It has two modern restaurants, four bars, a private beach, an infinity pool, and a spa. The Cape is the best option if you’re looking for a luxurious, relaxing stay with a classic “vacation feel” to start or end your Baja trip.

Hotel San Cristóbal - Todos Santos

Set on a beach on the western coast of Baja California, this sophisticated hotel is one of our all-time favorites. This stay is just a few minutes from the historic town of Todos Santos and offers many amenities, including views of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, a Mexican/Mediterranean fusion restaurant, room service, a laid-back poolside bar, and a library.

Its spacious, airy rooms feature colorful decor, free Wi-Fi, flatscreen televisions, and covered patios. If you upgrade your room, you will get ocean or mountain views, extra seating areas, and outdoor soaking tubs.

Paradero - Todos Santos

This unique hotel amid farmland is at the foot of the Sierra de la Laguna mountain range. This adult-only hotel is the perfect place to go if you want a quiet, relaxing stay. Paradero is just a 10-minute drive from Todos Santos but still offers that “remote” feeling many seek. The rustic-chic suites have Wi-Fi, indoor/outdoor showers, and terraces with hammocks. If you upgrade to a suite, you can add open-air soaking tubs, rooftop terraces, or a kitchen.

Paradero also has endless options for activities and outdoor recreation. The staff offers free guided hikes, surfing, yoga classes, gardening workshops, and more. The beach is just a 15-minute walk from the premises. The hotel also features an open-air bar and restaurant, two outdoor pools, a spa, and a cactus garden.

Hotel Todo Bien - La Ventana

On the east side of the Baja Peninsula in La Ventata lies Hotel Todo Bien. On a low bluff overlooking a pristine beachfront, enjoy sunrises exploding with color over the Sea of Cortez, unrivaled vistas of the bay, and sunsets behind the tranquil Sierra Cacachila Mountains. The resort amenities include a cozy bar and restaurant, fire pits, a pool, a hot tub, beach-front gear, and more.

There are 12 rooms, each with a private terrace and a stunning ocean view. The rooms include Wi-Fi, air conditioning, comfy linens, bath products, and more. If you upgrade to the Oceanfront Casita suite, you can access a private jacuzzi, an outdoor fireplace, and a fully stocked kitchen. There’s only one of these suites, so book it in advance! If you’re taking a camper van trip with Peace Vans, this hotel is the perfect choice for your first night since it is on the way to La Paz from the Cabo airport.

Baja Club Hotel - La Paz

The last hotel on our list is closest to our Baja hub and van pick-up spot. Located in the heart of La Paz, this hotel is an excellent choice for those who want to experience a lively city with lots to do. It is across the street from the Malecón, a coastal boardwalk with ocean views, sculptures, shops, and restaurants.

This hotel’s chic rooms offer Wi-Fi, flat-screen televisions, and comfortable beds. You can upgrade your room if you’d like an attached balcony. Baja Club Hotel also features a rooftop bar with gulf views, a casual restaurant, an outdoor pool, and a spa. There is so much to do within walking distance of this stay, and we highly recommend exploring the city of La Paz before embarking on your camper van adventure!
